Mesquite

If this reads like a love letter it’s because it is one.

A native Texas wood, it grows wherever it’s planted. Mesquite has one of the most beautiful deep red colors when finished.

Although if you’ve ever stepped on a mesquite thorn or have ever tried to clear mesquite saplings from a hay pasture, you’ll know it’s one of the most infuriating species to live with but the wood is worth it!

Mesquite is not quite as hard as Bois D’arc or Live Oak but it’s pretty close making it a great choice for furniture. However, being such a slow grower it’s often tough to find large slabs of mesquite.
